Double Gloucester, Ham and Potato Bake Recipe


This hearty recipe is perfect to accompany everyone's Christmas dinners this year! Created using our brand new Double Gloucester and Chive Cheese Truckle, we know this is certainly going to be a crowd favorite. It’s rich and buttery flavour makes for an extremely indulgent potato bake that you need to try!

You will need: 
 

  • Oven dish
  • Slicer
  • Pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Knife
  • Chopping board
  • Grater
  • jug
 

Ingredients:
 

  • 25g Butter
  • 15g Flour 
  • 400ml Milk
  • 3 tbsp Cream
  • 1 tbsp Mustard
  • 80g Double Gloucester and Chive Truckle
  • 80g Vintage Christmas Tree Truckle
  • 750g Potatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 200g of thick roast ham
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Garlic seasoning
 

Method:
 

 
  1. Preheat oven to 190 degree and line a ovenproof dish with butter

  2. Begin by peeling and thinly slicing potatoes, pat dry and leave to one side.

  3. In a pan melt the butter and add the flour, mixing until you have a paste like consistency. Add in the milk and bring to a boil, once heated take of the stove, adding in cream, mustard and 50g of both cheeses. Make sure to continually stir the mixture and season to taste, pour this into a jug.

  4. Then dice an onion and ham, ready to put into the bake.

  5. In an oven dish begin to assemble the bake, start by layering ⅓ of your potatoes, onions, ham and season, then pour your ⅓ of the cheese sauce over and layer this 2 more times. Once all layers are completed, top the bake with the remainder of the grated cheese.

  6. Place in the oven and bake for 1hr 30mins, until the cheese is golden brown and bubbling, once cooked leave to stand for 5 minutes and serve with your meal.
