Smoky Bacon and Smoked Cheese Twists With Tomato & Garlic Chutney Dip

You will need:

A tablespoon
- A cheese grater
- A knife
- Baking paper
- An oven tray
- A pastry brush
- A bowl
- A board for serving

Ingredients:

Smoked Cheddar Truckle
- Chuckling Tomato & Garlic Chutney
- Plain Flour (to sprinkle over your workspace)
- A Puff Pastry Sheet
- English Mustard
- Black Pepper
- Smoked Streaky Bacon
- 1 Egg

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.

  2. Sprinkle some flour on your working surface, to ensure the pastry does not stick.

  3. Take your pastry sheet and place it on top of the flour.

  4. Cover the pastry with a thin layer of English Mustard.

  5. Grate your Smoked Cheddar Truckle and spread it evenly on top of the mustard.

  6. Sprinkle a little black pepper over the cheese.

  7. Place the strips of streaky smoked bacon onto the pastry, leaving a gap between each piece.

  8. Take your knife and cut the pastry in between each slice of bacon.

  9. Carefully twist each piece until it resembles a curly straw, around 4-5 times.

  10. Place your curly straws on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

  11. In a separate bowl, beat your egg and brush this over the pastry.

  12. Place the tray in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  13. Remove from the oven, and once cool, place on a board for serving with a little of our Chuckling Tomato & Garlic Chutney to dip.
